DANIEL ZACARIOTTI
VERANO
The short film "Verano" (2025), written and directed by Daniel Zacariotti, was developed and shot in New York City in collaboration with fellow NYFA creatives. The film explores the emotional turbulence of queer immigrant artists who pursue their dreams in a city that promises opportunities while demanding resilience. Through an intimate portrayal of love strained by displacement and the pressure to succeed, the narrative reflects the constant negotiation between belonging and ambition. Verano emerged from the desire to expand nuanced queer Latin American representation in cinema, focusing on everyday emotional realities rather than stereotypes or exoticization. The film will begin its festival run in 2026, seeking to connect with audiences around the world who understand, or want to understand, what it means to love, create, and survive far from home.
